Scott Jackman, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Scott Jackman B.A., J.D., has been practicing law since 2008. During his extensive defense practice, he fought against fraudulent patients, dishonest tortfeasors, and unscrupulous bounty hunters. He loves the practice of law and helping out his clients and the legal community. Scott has served as a “Justice” on UCI’s first annual Moot Court competition, “presiding judge” for the National Trial Committee’s Moot Court Competition, and is a regular scorer for the Constitutional Rights Foundation Mock Trial Program.

Scott looks forward to representing your employers. Mr. Jackman’s personal life is filled with his close and extended family. He loves checking out local museums, beaches, hiking trails, and other amusements in Southern California with his wife and three daughters.  When Mr. Jackman is not with family or friends, he will be found with a novel in hand.

Richard Roa, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Richard Roa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from the University of Southern California, a paralegal certificate from the University of West Los Angeles, and a Juris Doctorate degree from People’s College of Law.

His practice has included subrogation, personal injury defense and, for the past twenty years, workers’ compensation defense. Richard represents insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators. He has litigated numerous cases at trial and has received several defense verdicts.

In his leisure time, Richard enjoys reading, cinema, and going for walks. Richard is married and has three sons, who are also attorneys.

 
 

Jeremy J. Lew, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Jeremy J. Lew obtained his B.S. in Business Administration from California State University Fresno, and later earned his J.D. from Western State College of Law. Prior to law school, Jeremy was a legal assistant for a plaintiff’s personal injury firm where he became familiar with the legal field and decided to become an attorney. After law school, Jeremy handled insurance defense firm representing car rental companies, which broadened his litigation experience and has allowed him to participate in litigation from both sides.  Jeremy then decided to bring his talents to workers’ compensation defense where he defends all aspect of workers’ compensation issues.  

Jeremy is a big sports fan, particularly enjoys playing tennis, and is an automotive enthusiast. He and his wife enjoy hiking and going to Disneyland, and spending time with their two beloved dogs.

 

 

 

David Cain, Esq.

Associate Attorney

David Cain earned his B.A. from U.C. San Diego and his J.D. from California Western School of Law.  David served in the Army Reserve as an enlisted man and as an officer.  After an airline flying career, David served nine years with an aerospace defense company in engineering and management.  David has been practicing law since 2013.  He has broad experience in both plaintiff cases and insurance defense, allowing him to see all angles of a case to provide efficient solutions and successful outcomes.

When he is not working, David enjoys spending time with his wife, Sofia.

 

Cody Lund, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Cody earned his Juris Doctorate from Western State University and spent the first two decades of his practice as a civil litigator defending his clients in complex products liability, premises liability and personal injury matters.  He has been lead counsel in numerous jury trials that culminated in defense verdicts. Since 2012, his career has focused exclusively on workers compensation matters and he has appeared before all the boards in southern and central California. Cody has lectured on various legal topics for insurance companies, legal associations and has acted as a judge pro temp before the San Bernardino WCAB.

In his free time, Cody enjoys camping, off-road riding, and involvement with his church and community. His favorite pastime is simply spending time with his wife, four sons and dogs.

David A. Barnett, Esq.

Associate Attorney

David A. Barnett B.S., J.D., graduated from Excelsior University and received his J.D., from Western State University. David spent thirteen years in the nuclear power industry.  Nine years were dedicated to the United Stated Navy on Board the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and four in commercial nuclear power as a powerplant operator and superfund site facilities manager.  Before joining DJG Law Group, David worked on Business litigation and trademark cases.  When not working, David participates in youth sports as a Volunteer Referee and Board member for AYSO Region 57. He also enjoys cycling and is an avid sports fan. Go Chelsea!!! FLY EAGLES FLY!!!

Jeremy Hautau, Esq. 

Associate Attorney

Jeremy Hautau, B.A., J.D./M.B.A., graduated from the University of Jamestown in 2018 and completed his graduate studies at the University of North Dakota. He played cornerback for the Jamestown Jimmies football team and founded the Technology Law Students’ Association during his time at UND. Since the beginning of his legal career in 2022, Jeremy has focused exclusively on the defense of workers’ compensation claims in California and has appeared at numerous WCAB’s throughout Southern California. His passion for the law stemmed from an eye-opening internship with the Jamestown City Prosecutor’s Office, which inspired him to go to law school and eventually become the first lawyer in his family. He also enjoys the continuous search for knowledge and expertise within the legal field and is highly motivated by his competitive nature to advocate zealously for his clients.

In his free time, Jeremy stays active, watches sports, and enjoys the outdoors. His favorite hobbies include fishing, skiing, and camping. His favorite teams to watch are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Rams, and Clippers. He also cheers for the Lions and has strong family ties to Michigan, the Great Lakes State. Finally, Jeremy has a passion for cooking and loves to grill on the weekends.

Diedra Burr-Williams, JD

Hearing Representative 

Diedra graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills and completed her B.A. in Business Management.   After working several years in the aerospace industry, Diedra decided to change her career focus and attended law school at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate degree.  Diedra began her legal career assisting injured workers and plaintiffs with personal injury claims.  She later shifted her focus to assisting medical providers in lien recovery.  Since 2014, Dierdre has exclusively focused her efforts on workers’ compensation insurance defense as a Hearing Representative for case-in-chief and lien claims.

In Diedra’s spare time Diedra Burr is the author of the fictional book series Trilbi Small, Attorney At Law, a fictional character.

 

James Alfajora

James Alfajora is a seasoned professional in Workers’ Compensation, with over 20 years of experience, spanning medical administration, billing, and all legal aspects of claims management. His career includes leadership and consulting roles at AIG, Anthem BC, and LA County Fire Fighters Claims Administration, where he specialized in lien negotiation, bill review, and compliance with state regulations. James is recognized as an expert witness at the WCAB and has a proven track record of implementing efficient workflows that drive cost savings and improve operational performance.

James’s educational foundation includes certifications in Legal Aspects of Healthcare from California State University, Long Beach, and credentials as a former Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Bill Reviewer. His deep understanding of California Workers’ Compensation and Labor Code laws, combined with analytical and communication skills, makes him a trusted resource for clients and colleagues alike.
